Traditional equatorial mounts often require heavy counterweights, making them cumbersome and difficult to balance in RA and DEC directions, also inconvenient for transit, storage and assembling; While some newer harmonic mount may lack multifunctionality, have insufficient load capacity, and suffer from stability issues and cable tangling.
To address these issues, the new AM5 Harmonic Mount (2024 edition) eliminates the need for counterweights, offers high load capacity (15kg without counterweights, 20kg with a 5kg counterweight), and balances portability with stability. The ZWO's customized strain wave geared reducer ensures precision with an accuracy within 10". It can be used as both an equatorial and alt-azimuth mount, with an altitude adjustment range of 0-90 degrees.
